Supervised Independent Living (SIL)

Residential Habilitation is an array of services provided in residential settings designed to allow consumers to live as independently as possible in the community. Habilitation in this setting is aimed at setting at assisting the individual to acquire, retain, or improve skills in a wide variety of areas.

The residential setting may be cluster housing, apartment, rented house, or the consumer’s own home, or it may be in a foster home or other placement provided that the client does not reside in an institution.

Training may occur in the following areas: self-direction, money management, daily living skills, and socialization.
